DISTANCE EDUCATION PROGRAMME

DEP intends to contribute its share in the development of a sustainable system of Inservice Teacher Education and Training by adopting various strategies. One of them is to strengthen institutions at various levels with resources and materials serving as distance learning (DL) inputs. In this context, DEP has envisaged to strengthen the BRCs with appropriate reading materials, audio and videocassettes.

Project Activities

Interaction among DPEP personnel and experts of Distance Education and Teachers Education

Development and production of DL inputs and materials ( Print and non-print)

Capacity building on designing, developing, production and delivering DL inputs and material

Orientation of BRC and CRC personnel on development and delivery of DL materials.

Assistance to states in deciding suitable training strategies.

Augmenting Education Management Information System (EMIS) in relation to data on training of the target groups.

Providing credits leading to certifications.

Organising a few training programmes on experimental basis on DL inputs and materials.

The Distance education Programme under DPEP has progressed by leaps and bounds, so that it has assumed a very significant role in training of primary teachers in Gujarat. Following have been the major interventions under DEP, DPEP in the last quarter.

Preparation of Self Instruction Materials (SIM)

Six Self-Instructional Materials (SIM) for teachers were prepared on Mathematics, Environmental Science, Language, Activity based teaching, Community Mobilization, Class room Management etc. Field-testing was conducted on 90 teachers through random sampling.
